A Buncha Hot Air

Hope Santa was as good to you all as he was here again this year. Sure am glad he shops at all the right boating accessories stores :-) I'm looking forward to hard wiring the new toys to Boogaboo, come spring time.

Here's a video clip of the gang sitting around the Sun Deck. Nothing too special of note, other than a nice, summer evening with sun, warmth & friends. Enjoy.

Down Hill From Here

Well, it's all down hill from here, my friends, as the winter solstice occurs tomorrow (Saturday) marking the longest night of the year. The good news is that the days will start getting longer! I told you this winter would go by fast . . .

Only three days to the Big Day, so Merry Christmas to you all. Hopefully Santa has found all those good deals on the boating supplies we are after ;-) If not, the Boat Show is only three weeks away. That reminds me - where did I put that list. This time, it's A.G.'s turn . . .

OK, up to now we've had the most snow & cold we've seen in a December in many years. I think it's time for another hot & wet (ooh, I'm getting excited) video of some summer fun! This one was taken during our summer holidays while we were in Young's Point at the beautiful Islandview Resort. It features none other than your's truly enjoying some colling off, as the temperature was 88.7 degrees! Ahhhhhhh summer - boating & swimming . . . I love it!!!!

Mini Race Car

Santa arrived early this past Friday, as Ankor Grl (I hope I spelled that right) got her new mini race car. Just wanted to share this with you, so you could see it before it's all dented & scratched up :-( Not only that, but now you know what to look out for on the wild streets of Keswick.

Unfortunately, I had to smash out our fireplace & chimney so Santa could deliver the thing!

Taking Requests ;-)

Todays pic is a bit of a follow to yesterday's comment ;-)

This one was taken heading southbound through Lake Katchewanooka, between Young's Point & Lakefield, during our holidays;

This next video clip is only marginally related to boating (there is a boat towards the end of the clip).
This was the view from our hotel room in Niagara Falls, during our 25th anniversary weekend, back in May. Great view from the Horseshoe Falls, over to the American Falls & the Fallsview Casino at the extreme left. I uploaded it back in June, but just never got around to posting it. Until now. Duh.

Sunny, Sunny, Sunny Days

Well, it seems that my last video post wasn't enough to get rid of this winter weather we're NOT enjoying, but it did seem to help a little with the temperatures. So, here's another warm, sunny, boating vid to help warm the hearts of the boaters in all of us.

It's not entirely exciting - just a little cruise through the Atherly Narrows on the way back homeward. Enjoy . . .

It's Cold.

Still winter. For those of us who live from Newmarket / north, we all had a nice shot of snow Monday. And wind. And cold. Add to that the fact that Cooks Bay froze over for the first time this season last Wednesday and you have the makings of a good (bad) old fashioned winter. Just like when we were kids. Younger ones, that is ;-)

Well, I say it's time for some serious summer like videos to snap us all out of this silliness. So, here's the first one. It was taken during the Elvis Weekend @ Orillia, back in August.

Be sure to pay attention to Mr. Parker making faces behind Anchor Girl's back. He-he-he . . .

Paaaaaaaaarker!

Ok, ok - you convinced me :-) Thanks for the (sniff, sniff) sentimental entry there, Stephen J..

Remember (everyone) that, like yourselves, I TOO check this thing every day & look forward to seeing what you have shared with us!!

Thanks. . . I might even do a full, real update on the main site tonight.

Memory Lane....aka...Rotten Row

Memories, ......People, places, and things we can't forget. Today is reality, tomorrow is a wonder, but yesterday, is a MEMORY...
We have met, some beautiful people and done some fantastic things, and more things yet to come. but Memories will never change. I wouldn't want them to.......would you....???

SHARON!!!

Sharon, I really appreciate your comment from yesterday's post!!!! I was looking at the visitor logs and found that the traffic has been declining at a sad rate & was thinking that maybe it was time to shut down the whole RR site when the account comes up for renewal . . .

However, your comment has inspired me to continue onward :-)

Here's a good shot of the topless Pearl from the Canada Day long weekend this year. We, too are looking forward to getting back on the water & hooking up with you guys! Remember, we're that much closer to the top of the lake now, so, no excuses ;-)

What's With All This White Stuf?!?!?!

Have we all had enough of this winter thing yet??? It's only been a few days, but it's been more than enough for this guy :-(

On the brighter side, we're less than a month until the days start getting longer again! Let's have a big Woo-Hoo on that one.

To help you all (all 4 visitors) get into the summer feeling, here's a shot of the gang sitting by the river on a lovely summer evening.

You are welcome ;-)

Stormy Weather

We encountered this approaching storm while heading out onto Cooks Bay. This was mid July, the weekend before we left for our summer holidays.

Ahhhhhhh, holidays . . . .

Got Your Mojo Working?

Grant Fullerton was in fine form at the 2007 Corn Roast. Too bad he was unsuccessful at his Mojo project, but the sad song that accompanied his story was a hum-dinger!

Dies Ist Ein Foto Für Heute

Looks like out of the 4 visitors we get here , 3 of us are of the daily variety. I'm not sure if we can accommodate all the traffic :-)

Today's photo we have have the lovely Anchor Girl handling bow duties aboard 'Hot-N-Spicy'. Sanja and her went for a trip over to the Pioneer gas docks and all the way back.

Le Photo Du Jour

Today's photograph was taken at our new digs, the first time we was there to look at it. A very momentous moment, to be sure.

Really looking forward to many more moments at that place!!

Today's Pic-O-The-Day

I see the latest Poll has 2 'Daily' visitors & 1 'Weekly' visitor. Therefore, today's photo is for the exclusive use, entertainment and flashback of the above mentioned Daily visitors.

If you are one of the Weekly visitors, please do not look at this photo, nor be entertained by it - until such time as at least one week has passed since it's posting, that being today.

Have a nice day/week. And no drinking on the docks.

A Buncha More Pics

Five more photos for your amusement. If you happen to see yourself - or even someone you know - leave a message or comment for us all . . .

Frank (The Other) & Carol relaxing in Orillia. . . . I see your clothes have dried there, Frank.

Steve Everybody lives life on the edge by leaving the helm while approaching his maximum warp speed on 'Lollygaggin'.

Look! Actually more than 3 people up on the deck! Must have been a record for '07, eh??

Ya, I was retrieving the sprayer from the hose. I did get it & didn't even loose any body parts due to immersion in the green stuff.

Art, looking surprisingly perky for a Saturday evening.

A Bunch-O-Pics #1

Have you added your vote on the Poll at the top right of this page? It'll be there for a week, then we can see the results. Maybe I should have started with a poll like; 'Do you think we should have a Poll?'

Hey! I fell down the well of internet hype & signed up for a Facebook account. So, if you are already a member & I haven't poked you yet, it's because I don't know you are there! If you are, I look forward to your Poke (it's an actual element of Facebook - really) or a scribble on my wall!

Just as a quick aside relating to my latest Facebook experience; as a member, one can join various 'Groups'. These groups are designed to bring together people with similar interests. Sure, sounds good. So I did a search for groups relating to boats/boating. Well, was I surprised to find a particular group called 'Motorboating' and subsequently discover exactly what the current description of Motorboating happens to be . . .

All I can suggest for the curious amongst you is to go to YouTube.com and do a search for videos containing the term 'MOTORBOATING'. I'm sure you will be, ahhhh, as surprised as I was. Have fun with that, Harbour Master ;-)

On with the show. Like the title says, I have a random bunch-o-pics to share from the 2007 season. Remember to click on the pictures to see them in all their glory.

In no particular order, here we go;

A morning sunrise over Couchiching from the Port of Orillia.

From the guy who supplied this 'shirt', the man himself strikes a striking pose. You'll have to wait until the year end video to see how the rest of us looked in that thing :-)

H.M. & Peetah share a chuckle at the fire

Wee Willy & Donna enjoy some cool lemonade at the Orillia boat show, back in August.

Verny-Werny better hope Mary doesn't see this one. Drinking straight out of the bottle - I mean really!

Debbie, Graham, Jack & Dave enjoying the 'Elvis Weekend' at Orillia.

One of the rare times that BOTH markers are visible on Long Shoal

It's Nick Nack Patty Whack!

Kevin - getting ready to catch something???

Thank you, thank you very much . . . That was a fun weekend!

Blowin In The Wind

Ahh, the title reads 'blowin', Kevin - NOT 'blown'.

Ok, back to business. I forgot to include a short video clip with the recent Xmas In June '07 update. This was on the Friday evening, just after we pulled into Port. Actually, for anyone there at the time, it might have appeared that I was trying to pull into 'Lallygaggin', as opposed to our slip. My bad.

Check the flag at the end. Yup, she (the WIND) was blowing directly across our bow!

Docking School

Here's a neat time waster - ahhh, I mean Learning Tool :-) It's a 'Docking School' & it's both kinda fun & a little addicting.

Try your skill at: byownerelectronics.com/flash/docking_school.html

Hint - the keyboard controls can be found by clicking on the 'CONTROLS' label at the top. Also, by hitting the keys more than once, you can increase or decrease your throttle.

Last Run(s) . . & Swim Of 2007

WOW! What another great weekend. Yes, we got two inches of rain Saturday & Sunday was friggen cold, but inbetween it all - and the wicked lightning show on Saturday night - we actually got to get out on the lake twice!

This first photo was from Saturday - when Sanja, Debbie & Graham joined us for a cruise around the bay to see what's out around our new home port. We actually cruised over towards Thorah Island, and right over to Beaverton. Man, it sure was beautiful, with the lake being calm & the sun hot. We just got back in to the marina when the thunderstorm hit. Cool.

What's everyone looking at in this picture? Today, we took the gang out for another little cruise and went really close to shore of 'Chicken Harbour' to find the sand bars that the locals keep telling us about. Well, I took Boogaboo close along the shoreline to check it out. The water is so clear there, that we all were wondering how deep it was.

Look a the next pic . . .

Only one way to find out - jump in! And I did. Sure, the water was cool, but not freezing. A super sandy bottom. Looks like a great spot to spend the day.

Man, we were all wishing it was the beginning of the season and not the very last day :-(

Looks like that's it for us, with the last pump out for the season happening today. Next week I'll take the rest of the stuff off the boat & winterize the water system. The boat should be coming out of the water the following week. At least I should then finally have some time to do a serious update on the web site.

Always looking for YOUR entries & comments & pictures !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Corn Roast Pics

Here's a few from the corn roast, last weekend. Or should I have said LAST weekend ;-)

This poor (not so) little guy was sleeping behind Peter's boat on Saturday morning and we had a hell of a time trying to get him awake & moving down the dock. Eventually Peter showed up and got him on his way. As for his beers . . .

I started the fire early to try & get some heat going. That had to have been the coldest corn roast ever. By the time it was dark out, we had so much firewood in the rim that it was over the top. That was a first that I can remember.

Actually, it got warmer as the night went on. Believe it or not, me & anchor Girl were the last ones left at the fire that night. Hmmmmmmmmm.

Amazing how many unfamiliar faces show up when there's free food & entertainment, eh? Oh, that's right - that was the 'Charity' portion of the slip fees.

Sunday morning & A.G. waves bye bye to Boogaboo for the final ride out of Slip #96.

And just like that - she's at our NEW home & Slip to help tie up. What a woman!

For a minute I thought I'd get all choked up about leaving. Nope. Just happy about finally finding the marina we were looking for all summer :-)

Too bad that things never got any better at the old place, but it was clear nothing was ever going to change & I got tired of asking to have the garbages emptied, etc., etc., etc., etc.. Remember folks, we left the MARINA - not the people there.

Monday, September 10, 2007

Dear Commodore: I truly wish you and Anchor girl all the best in your new diggs...More than I was in mine..I hope that you have found the paradise that all boaters search for, and are able to navigate to the regions of happiness that we all seek. As I have said in the past...Time changes, people change, and we all move on...we hope to bigger an better things, but we will all have memories of those whom are left behind and rejoice in the fun which we have had together. Travel well my friend, for this is not the end but the start of a new beginning. Have fun, stay well, and enjoy the start of a new tomorrow.....Cap-"P"-tan .......Stephen J Parker.

Elvis Is Leaving The Building

Well, my friends, after nine seasons at Keswick Marine, 'Boogaboo' has found a new home. Everglades Marina in Pefferlaw.

Me & Anchor Girl are really, really looking forward to our move and the adventures it will bring! I'm hyped about the place and the fact that it has more of a resort type of feeling. We spent this past Saturday & Sunday there and spoke to as many of the boaters there as we could, joined in for a Saturday night fire and walked & rode through the whole place a few times. Without exception, everyone was actually happy to be there! And we could even joke around with the owners!

If all works out with the slip we are hoping to get, we'll be fairly close to the river, as these photos show. All the slips back onto grass and are drive up for cars. No more lugging to & from a far away parking lot :-) And we'll be closer to the areas we like to cruise.

With any luck, we'll be doing the actual move over the next couple of weeks.

HAPPY, HAPPY!!!

One New One

I see we have another contributor signed in for this blog. Hopefully the Harbour Master will master the skills to share pictures and words with all of us . . .

Here's a quick pic from our slip at Ojibway Bay Marina that I took last weekend. What a nice marina. Super neat & clean with a beautiful view of Lake Couchiching. Super duper.

I'll post some more pics & a video clip or two from this spot, down the road.

Stayin' Alive

Here's a video clip from our time in Peterborough, back in July. This is a Bee Gees cover group in concert at the park next to the marina. We saw THREE shows in 4 days while we were there. Great spot!

This clip pans over the crowd, to give you an idea of how many people come to these events. Ya, ya, what a good reporter I am . . . See, now you don't even have to go there!

A Hunka-Hunka Burnin' Fun

Someone let the crazies out of the asylum - and I'm not even in this picture. HA!

Here's a bunch of us leaving the Legion, after the big Elvis show a couple of weeks back. The show wasn't as good as years past, but still a Hunka-Hunka bunch of fun. Man.

FINALLY! the picture (and not much else) has been changed on the main page of the site. Don't worry, winter ain't all that far away (sigh) and I'll have (a little) more time to work in some serious photo updates. Until then, why don't you share what you got - here - with the rest of us? Nothing to it, really.

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiipeout

Last weekend in Orillia there was a ski show. After we literally sank one of the finger docks watching it on Saturday (Spiders!!), we went over to see it closer up on Sunday. This cool clip is one of the performers coming in for a bit of a crash landing . . . .

Picasa Web Albums - rembrant - Rotten Row's ...

August 16, 1977

Where were you on this day in '77? I was out goofing around with my cousins and when we got to my house, my sister told me that Elvis was dead. We went & I sat in my brother in law's 1969 GTO to listen to the news on the radio. Even though I was just a young pup of 14, I knew what a big thang it was . . . .

Thank ya, thank ya very much . . . .

Love Hurts

Here's a quick video clip from the Nazareth concert we saw at Peterborough's Festival of Lights, a couple of weeks ago.

And Paul (B), here's a picture of that 380 Sea Ray Sundancer I was telling you about (the folks who wrapped their fenders + sold their house to live on this thing).

Having A 'Ball'

OK, I fixed the repeated entry, repeated entry. I suppose that happened when the last internet connection was fading in and out. That said, I've been able to grab a wireless connection - even if little spotty at times - every stop of the way.

I had to share this real estate sign with you, but I'll leave the hidden message to your imagination. I know that if Brauweiller saw this, he would get it right away.

By the way, as of 4:30 this afternoon, both he & Marie are fine. So is their boat.

Kevvy - you get that vessel of your's fixed yet?

For The Birds

And their off . . . . . Hey Kevvy-Wevvy! Sounds like you're having trouble 'getting out of the gate', so to speak. What's broken now?? Well, by my watch you have 3 more days to get them parts installed and head out on the water - san souci.

Well, I didn't want top break our clean record up to now, but I know you'll be saddened to read that today wasn't the usual 'good time, good time, good time' that you have been reading about. To start off, we woke to lousy heat and sunshine & had to deal with that ALL DAY. That was tough enough, but then we had to return to Islandview Resort to suffer through yet more sunshine, heat and water for swimming. It was really hard for Anchor Girl to endure, but she somehow managed to take this pic of me suffering while swimming in the lousy waters of Clear Lake. Add to that the fact that I was then burdened with the task of cooking - on a BBQ!! And I'm almost ashamed to mention this part, but I was forced to open an ice cold beer and sip on it while starring at that disgusting water I mentioned before.

All in all, a pretty rough day. My only hope is that you can find a better time when your holidays start this weekend . . . Good luck, buddy . . .

Take a look at these magnificent animals. This is a nest of three osprey we spotted today, during our passage through Lake Katchewanooka. They certainly are majestic birds, seen flying - gliding, actually - high in the skies while they stalk their prey.

Monday, July 30, 2007

hey commoboar , glad to see you are having a good time having a good time , having a good time ..i think the blog record is stuck .... lol , must be no mutiny on board as i did not get the call..... oh well got some parts for the yacht today . hope to get her running this week . i did make it out into the bay at least before all went to &*%^& , oh well . holdays start fri noon ..ready set go ...

Good To Hear From Ya'All

Sorry to hear about your continuing 'Broke Boat' syndrome there, Kevvy - maybe it's due to lack of use :-( Well, hope you are able to get away aboard Docked Wages for some hang time. It sure has been great to get away from it all!!!

We had thought we would make it to Orillia for the last weekend of our holidays, but it's so darned beautiful here in the Kawarthas, that we'll probably cruise around this area a few more days & head right back to The Wick at the end of the weekend. Besides, we're gonna be up in Orillia the following weekend to see Elvis (!!) & one can only spend so much time in the same place. Well, some of us . . . .

PARKER! Good pics there. But why does the guy with the MDG shirt remind you of . . . me? HA! I especially like the Sea Ray shot you got. No inside pictures?? Actually, we spent a few hours going through the locks yesterday with a couple from Florida who sold their house & cars and bought a new 38' Sundancer to live aboard it full time - right now they are doing the Great Loop cruise. He had some interesting long range cruising insights for us, too . . . but more on that later.

Speaking of ELVIS, here's a shot of him (with his little pig friends aboard Boogaboo, taken in Peterborough.

Tonight we're at Lakefield Marina - another beautiful spot to spend a couple of days. I've been in swimming about 6 times since we got here yesterday, as it's been so friggen hot!
It's cool (no pun intended) to swim here, as there's about a 1 - 2 knot current, so you just drift along. Here's a yet ANOTHER evening view that I took last night, sitting in this very spot where I'm writing this entry.

Oh ya, one day soon I'll be making a full time living doing this. . . .

Tonight's final thought of the day is that, yes, the Rotten Row Logbook seems to be on the fritz again! D'oh!! Oh well, there ain't much I can do about it right now. I think I might just shut that whole thing down from here on in, as it looked like it wasn't gathering the same interest it used too :-(

If anyone wants to add their thoughts (PLEASE DO!!!!), comments on these entries are alway welcome - or email me & I will send you an invite to become a full fledged blogger yourself! I'm sure you guys don't only want read what Kevin, Steve & I have to say - JOIN IN!!!
Upload pictures.
Make silly comments ;-)

The more the merrier!!!!
